New project: Children’s world knowledge and interpretation of the world in textbooks and children’s books from 1850 to 1918
Children perceive the world with their own eyes. At the same time, socialisation influences their perceptions of things- today and a hundred years ago. What knowledge of the world did children and adolescents growing up possess at the time? A new project with a broad focus is concerned with this question. Here, seven science institutions and libraries work together, chaired by Georg-Eckert Institute (GEI). The team of researchers will try new methods from Digital Humanities and link hermeneutical with computer-scientific approaches.
