Educational Research at the DIPF

To this end, educational research at the DIPF is collaboratively conducted by educational scientists, pedagogical psychologists and developmental psychologists. On the other hand, sociological, economic and normative-judicial approaches are integrated.

The three Centers for Educational Research assess different segments of education at an individual, institutional and a systemic level.

The Center for Education and Human Development focuses on psychological theories on cognitive and psycho-social developments in educational processes. The observation and analysis of such developments concentrates on preconditions and impairments.

Modelling of competence structures and the analysis of effects of curricular and extracurricular support link up to the work conducted in the Center for Educational Quality and Evaluation, which highlights aspects of the quality of learning environments. The quality of schools and instruction is, for instance, assessed with regard to effects on the competence development of students.

The Center for Research on Educational Quality and Evaluation ties its analyses of systemic conditions and aspects of quality assurance and quality development to the societal perspective taken by the Center for Research on Educational Governance. One of this latter Center’s important reference points concerns national educational reporting, which is further developed by intensive research on indicators.
Moreover, the Center investigates current aspects of educational governance from an educational scientificrec, legal and economic perspective.
