National Report on Education

Webbanner BildungsberichtThe portal collects the complete national reports on education (Education in Germany 2006, 2008 and 2010) and informs on fundamental aspects of educational reporting in Germany. Furthermore, educational reports from other countries are made available.

The website also provides information regarding conferences held in the context of the national reports, and press releases.

The national report on education is relevant for different target groups in  the administration, practice and policy of education. It also addresses stakeholders in science and  training, as well as the  general public and anyone with an interest in education.

At regular intervals, national reporting on education delivers indicator-based empirical accounts of the state of the German education system, covering the entire scope of education from early childhood to adult continuing education.

At its core, educational reporting rests on a transparent, systematic, set of indicators that can be regularly updated. Thus, there exists a combination of statistical data, each representing a central characteristic of educational processes or a central aspect of quality in education. In particular, data that are either available or need to be generated from official sources and social scientific assessments are systematised. Moreover, data are correlated and analysed in view of general aspects. Societal effects and gains are thus interpreted.
