Projects are presented as modules  for joining in and imitating, and complemented with contributions from research and interviews with experts and multipliers in reading promotion.

The portal aims to inspire a worldwide exchange of experiences among actors in the field of reading promotion and to contribute to a use of project ideas across borders.

Exemplary projects and institutions engaged in reading promotionare presented by country as well as in target group categories. The “research” category publishes evaluations and research findings from studies in the field of reading promotion.

Reading worldwide

History

Pursuant to the proposal, the first project phase (March 2008- Februrary 2010) was dedicated to supplementing the portal “Lesen in Deutschland”, the reading portal of the German Education Server, with a platform presenting international resources.

In the second project phase (March 2010- February 2012), the existing information pool was systematically supplemented and updated. Moreover, target-group specific information is enhanced by additionally presenting information on project evaluation. Users are offered an open tool for collaboration and communication in terms of a Wiki, enabling thematically relevant interaction and participation.

The project is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The information platform is published by the DIPF, and edited in collaboration with Stiftung Lesen (Reading Foundation). The project partners are supported by the Goethe Institutes. “Lesen in Deutschland”, the platform for promoting reading under the umbrella of the German Education Server, also acts as a partner.
