SPO / Scripta Paedagogica Online - Retrospective Digitalization

Since 1998 an extensive project to retrospectively digitise educational journals and reference books is being conducted, funded by the DFG. Scripta Paedagogica Online is being extended to become a steadily growing archive on German educational history. A comparatively narrow selection of the extensive stock of the BBF has been made, with the aim of making the dynamics of professionalisation of pedagogical occupations visible on the one hand, and of representing the development of educational knowledge on the other. The project has three phases. The currently ongoing second phase involves microfilming and digitising journals published from 1870 to 1918 as well as reference books published from 1870 to 1945. In addition to the images the titles of articles and the authors are being inserted into the bibliographic database of the BBF so that access is possible via journal titles and volumes as well as via authors and title keywords of articles.
