An indicator-based explanation of competence development in the quantity and quality of using an electronic textbook
An indicator-based explanation of competence development in the subject of history - the quantity and quality of using an electronic textbook.
In the proposed project, user data from an electronic learning resource will be investigated in terms of an innovative assessment method to explain competence development. Therefore, the project will
- contribute to understanding the correlation between the quality and quantity of learning processes and learning success, and
- render an important contribution to the establishment of logfile data from real instructional settings in empirical educational research.
The project is nested in a larger longitudinal study that aims to assess the transformation of history lessons in upper secondary schools in German-speaking Belgium towards competence orientation. In this regard, the project benefits from the fact that in this transformation, the relevant learning resource is an electronic textbook, mBook Geschichte, and logfile data documenting the students’ usage of the textbook in and outside lessons are accessible for scientific purposes.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
