Possibilities the Micro-Census Provides for Analysing the Social Situation of Pedagogical Staff With Special Focus on Teachers
In this project the social position of pedagogical staff working in the different educational sectors and school forms is compared on selected social dimensions. In a further step, the pedagogical employees are compared with other (academic) groups of employees with regard to their social setting.
This project is based on the intention to comparatively assess the professional as well as the private situation of pedagogical staff working in the education system. The social position of pedagogical staff working in the different educational sectors and school forms is thus compared on selected dimensions. In a further step, the pedagogical employees are compared with other (academic) groups of employees with regard to their social setting. The Scientific-Use-File of the 2005 Microcensus provides the data source, which does not only allow for an assessment of social conditions of an individual group of professionals and its social setting, but also enables the comparison of different groups of professionals. Owing to its conceptual design as a household survey, it is particularly apt for analysing the family situation of employees.
Based on the theoretical concept of social situations, the following dimensions of assessment were defined and analysed: conditions of work, professional mobility, educational level, state of migration, income situation, the family situation, occupational status of spouse, age and sex of the employees. These dimensions of assessment, which equally function as dimensions of dissimilarity, cover a broad scope of the respondents’ conditions of action in their professional and private domains.
