Relaunch and enhancement of Edutags, the community tool (Edutags III)
In a third funding phase "Relaunch of Edutags, the community tool, including an enhancement as support instrument in the context of an open infrastructure for digital educational media and OER" the Social Bookmarking service Edutags will be re-launched and thus become a permanent part of services offered by the German Education Server, information environments of the federal state education servers, and the ELIXIER alliance.
The predecessor project “focused on further enhancing ” (edutags II) Edutags, rooting it in the teaching community and conceptually further developing the bookmarking tool. Particular attention was paid to networking with other education servers and content partnership-based anchoring in the field of OER. Planning of a comprehensive relaunch began.
Given the achieved target group of currently 3,000 individual users and ca. 450 professional working groups, a pool of indexed learning and teaching resources of 25,000 records (including ca. 5,000 free-license Open Educational Resources (OER)), and also in view of a high acceptance in educational practice and OER contexts, we plan to sustainably link Edutags with the technical and editorial structures of ELIXIER, the content platform of the state education servers. The service shall also be expanded for use by other content providers. A comprehensive technical and graphical relaunch will serve to optimize adaptivity in the context of different networks and information structures. Subject to an exemplary concept, possible uses of the tool in other areas of education will be developed for vocational education and training.
From a technical point of view, a relaunch will systematically bring together different strands of development and prepare the system for an expansive exchange of data in a larger alliance of reference systems. The vast feedback from users has also kicked off important improvements of usability.
