This project aimed to assess the possibility of constructing small scope social indices with the goal of processing statistical data that are issued regularly for the science-based development of research economic and valid school-specific social indices.
A school-related social index was developed on the basis of existing statistical data in order to improve the information basis for fair comparisons of schools and to enhance the financial funding of schools according to their needs. The reference data consisted of the individual data from the school social index ascertained by the IFS. The project aimed to assess the possibility of constructing small scope social indices with the goal of processing statistical data that are issued regularly for the science-based development of research economic and valid school-specific social indices.
Official small scope data was linked with data from official school statistics and secondary data and processed in terms of consistent sets of records. Different data sources and data procedures provided the basis for calculating exemplary social indices for schools in the city of Dortmund and the district of Coesfeld; these were evaluated along with the findings from current surveys carried out at respective schools.
