Educational Natural Language Processing

Educational natural language processing (e-NLP) represents interdisciplinary research on automatic text analysis applied to research questions and applications in the domain of education. The final outcomes may be digitized educational products applied in learning systems, intelligent tutoring systems, or grading systems.

The major research areas of e-NLP at DIPF are technology-based assessment of natural language short answers and essays, natural language capabilities for virtual learning environments or self-directed learning, automatic generation of exercises, and the analyses of processes in a multilingual test environment.

We closely collaborate with Prof. Dr. Frank Goldhammer from the Department for Education Quality and Evaluation at DIPF on the issues of computer-based competence measurement.
