Knowledge Mining and Assessment
The research theme of "Knowledge Mining and Assessment" focuses on machine learning and data mining. Here, the scientists research the development of intelligent data analysis procedures in the context of education (Educational Data Mining).
Chaired by Prof. Dr. Ulf Brefeld (Link: http://www.kma.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/staff/prof-dr-ulf-brefeld/), a group of researchers are working in the field of “Knowledge Mining and Assessment“ (KMA), thus they study machine learning and data mining as well as the development of intelligent data analysis procedures in the context of education (Educational Data Mining). They work in close collaboration with the Technology Based Assessment unit (Link: http://tba.dipf.de/de). Research focuses on adaptive testing and automated analysis of assessment data.
The co-operation of computer science and empirical educational research has resulted in expertise in the field of Educational Data Mining which can be transferred to other educational data in the future to disclose yet unknown relationships and causal chains in complex datasets and contribute to the improvement of information processing in educational research
