Forschungsdatenzentrum Bildung (FDZ Bildung): FDZ Bildung constitutes a central address regarding archiving and availability of qualitative research data (AV data), videography of lessons and related textual und numerical material (transcripts and coding, ratings, descriptions etc.) as well as assessment instruments from quantitative research (questionnaires, scales and tests). At FDZ Bildung, relevant datasets and instruments are indexed for re-usage and subsequently made available in a central repository, pursuant to data protection regulations. This service is complemented by contextual information on the studies for which the instruments were developed respectively wherein data were assessed, as well as references to relevant publications.
FDZ Bildung (so far) has placed a focus on instruments and research datasets concerning school education and instruction.

The portal forschungsdaten-bildung.de is operated by FDZ Bildung at DIPF as well as the Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung, a project co-operation funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and  it has been online since August 2014. Here, both partners bring together specific services on a joint platform.

The co-operation “Forschungsdaten Bildung“: The collection and accessibility of data, information and knowledge is fundamental for ensuring efficient and quality-assured research. Therefore, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) commissioned three institutes - DIPF, GESIS and IQB – to set up a respective infrastructure for the storage of research data generated by projects in the BMBF Framework Programme for the Promotion of Empirical Educational Research, as well as rendering them accessible for further conditional re-usage. In addition, the co-operation partners provide information and assistive material concerning research processes and research data management, and offer respective tuition.

The BMBF-funded project Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung is jointly run by GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, IQB - Institute for Quality Development in Education and DIPF (only in German) – German Institute for International Educational Research.
