SPO / Scripta Paedagogica Online

Scripta Paedagogica Online is a digital text archive for the history of education in the German-speaking area; it is maintained by the Research Library for the History of Education (BBF)

Scripta Paedagogica Online (SPO) comprehends more than a million digitised pages respectively more than 2,500 vvolumes from the mid-18th century until the 20th century, from the BBF stock. The material is provided in Open Access format. Texts can be downloaded in archive-proven PDF/A standard (volume and essays) and can be persistently cited owing to persistent internet addresses (URN).
The text archive is structured by different collections: General and school pedagogical journals, religious educational journals, school programmes and annual reports from grammar schools in Prussia, record of teachers in Prussia, pedagogical reference books and pedagogical monographs. Stock has been indexed and rendered searchable down to the level of articles.

Work relating to the text archive was begun in 1999, supported by funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG). In 2012, the system migrated to a new, more user-friendly technology. The archive is continually enhanced by the integration of stock or individual titles.
