  • Born in 1952
  • 1973 – 1977 Teacher training for a diploma, Humboldt University of Berlin, followed by a teaching career in Mecklenburg
  • 1983 doctoral degree at the Akademie der Pädagogischen Wissenschaften (APW) – Academy of Educational Science, in Berlin, followed by working in the department for German educational history and school history at the APW
  • 1990 Habilitation at the APW
  • Since 1991 academic staff member of the DIPF
  • 1994 senior academic assistant with no permanent teaching contract at Humboldt University of Berlin
  • 1994 guest professor at the Technical University of Chemnitz
  • 1995 - 1997 lecturer for historical educational science at the Technical University of Chemnitz
  • 1994 - 1996 and since 2008 lecturer at the Ernst Moritz Arndt-University of Greifswald
  • 2008 stand-in professor for historical education at Potsdam University
  • 2010 apl. professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
