Abstract: A fruitful cooperation between information science and digital humanities could arise in the area of user-centered evaluation of ontology content which applies methods like card sorting experiment, Delphi study, focus group and expert interview to data modelling (for a detailed reference see Reinhold, 2015). Here, assessing the quality of the ontology as well as its match with the mental model of intended users of the information system is focused, not in terms of format or structure, but with regard to the relevancy of digital objects, terms and epistemologies in a certain domain. The modeling and evaluation process is accompanied by use of acknowledged empirical methods, for example qualitative or quantitative content analysis, which is also used widely in the Humanities. This culture of empiricism in ontology evaluation targets directly the mindset of researchers in the field. Consequently, a research outlook on data modeling in information science must include a notion about the relationship between models and users of digital humanities infrastructures. (DIPF/Orig.)
