Abstract: In dem Beitrag wird der letzte pädagogische Kongress der DDR im Juni 1989 bildungsgeschichtlich eingeordnet und als Symptom für das nahende Ende der DDR beschrieben. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie die DDR- Lehrerschaft sich im Sommer 1989 zu ihrer Dienstpflicht verhielt, mittels Erziehung die Herrschaftsverhältnisse zu festigen. Anhand von Archivalien des ehemaligen DDR-Geheimdienstes wird gezeigt, dass zwar Kritik von Lehrerinnen und Lehrern an der pädagogischen und bildungspolitischen Praxis zunahm. Aber diese erlangte kei-ne sicherheitspolitische Bedeutung. Der Beitrag stützt damit die These von einer außerordentlichen bildungspo-litischen Diszipliniertheit der DDR-Lehrerschaft.
Abstract (english): In this contribution the last Pedagogical Congress of the GDR in June 1989 is integrated into the history of edu-cation and described as a symptom for the approaching downfall of the GDR. Focal point is the question how GDR teache rs abode by their official duty to consolidate the ruling power in Summer 1989. Based on archival documents of the former GDR State Security the author shows that critics of teachers with regard to pedagogical practice and educati onal policy increased but never became a significant problem in view of security policy. This contribution therefore underpins the thesis of an extraordinary discipline of GDR teachers regarding educational policy.
