Abstract:
Welche Bedeutung hat die Praxis der Leistungsbeurteilung sowie die Genauigkeit diagnostischer Urteile von Lehrkräften für Lehr-Lern-Prozesse im Unterricht? Mit dieser Frage greift die Studie das für den Unterricht zentrale Element der Leistungsbeurteilung auf und untersucht dieses empirisch im Rahmen des Mathematikunterrichts in Realschulen. Dabei wird zum einen der erziehungswissenschaftliche Diskurs zum aktuell stattfindenden Wandel von summativen hin zu formativen Methoden der Leistungsbeurteilung dargestellt und zum anderen auf zentrale theoretisch anknüpfende Konstrukte (z. B. Bezugsnormorientierung, diagnostische Kompetenz) eingegangen. Die Befunde der Studie zeigen einen Zusammenhang zwischen der Beurteilungspraxis und der Beurteilungsgenauigkeit von Lehrkräften sowie die Bedeutung beider Elemente für motivationale und kognitive Merkmale der Lernenden. Diskutiert werden die Ergebnisse vor allem mit Blick auf die pädagogische Praxis und die Lehrkräfteaus- und -fortbildung.

Abstract (english):
The subjective experience of aging is a relevant correlate of developmental outcomes. However, traditional approaches fall short of capturing the inherent multidimensionality of subjective aging experiences (SAEs). […] This study provides a description of SAEs that is facet rich, and based on their natural occurrence, analyzes interindividual differences and associations with well-being. Data came from 225 participants (70-88 years) of the ongoing BEWOHNT study. Open-ended diary entries about age-related experiences were collected for more than 14 days and coded according to AARC domains and subdomains. Seventy percent of all participants had SAEs about physical functioning. About half of the sample reported experiences in the domains interpersonal relations, social-emotional and social-cognitive functioning (COGN-EMOT), and lifestyle. Thirty percent experienced aging in terms of changes in cognitive functioning. Contents of SAEs varied by gender, age group, and functional status. SAEs about COGN-EMOT were most consistently related to affective components of subjective well-being. Our results demonstrate the benefits of an open-ended approach to a multidimensional understanding of SAEs. Content-related, social-cognitive and social-emotional changes more than functional age-related changes were most important for well-being.

Abstract:
In einer empirischen Studie werden kulturbezogene und migrationsspezifische Faktoren der Selbstkontrolle bei Kindergartenkindern analysiert. Im Rahmen der Untersuchung wurde die Selbstkontrollfähigkeit von 55 deutschen Kindern, 31 Kindern mit einem türkischen Migrationshintergrund und 37 Kindern mit einem anderen Migrationshintergrund in Deutschland sowie von 62 türkischen Kindern in der Türkei verglichen. Zur Messung der Selbstkontrollfähigkeit wurden Regelverstöße bei der Sanduhraufgabe mit Belohnungsaufschub erhoben. Während sich für die in Deutschland untersuchten Gruppen keine Unterschiede ergaben, wurde für die in der Türkei untersuchten türkischen Kinder eine geringere Selbstkontrolle nachgewiesen als für die deutschen Kinder ohne Migrationshintergrund. Die Ergebnisse werden hinsichtlich ihrer Aussagekraft über mögliche migrations- und kulturspezifische Einflussfaktoren auf die Selbstkontrolle diskutiert. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
Various international student assessment studies during the last decades have demonstrated that the probability of academic failure is dramatically heightened among children with low socio-economic family background and those with a migration background. Additionally, children without risk background factors can equally suffer from the aforementioned learning problems: e.g. will develop learning disabilities and attention problems and have a high probability for academic failure. This seems to indicate that learning disabilities and behavioral problems are not simply a consequence of social risk factors, but are just as likely to develop as a result of risk conditions inherent in the individual. Taking this as a starting point, a group of scientists from the German Institute for International Educational Research, the Goethe University and the Sigmund-Freud-Institut developed the framework for IDeA - a center for Research on Individual Development and Adaptive Education of Children at Risk. The innovative idea was to combine longitudinal developmental research with experimental studies on educational interventions, and to focus on children with an increased probability for academic failure. In July 2008, the LOEWE Center IDeA was established with some longitudinal studies investigating the social and cognitive factors influencing children's developmental pathways. Today, the center incorporates more than a hundred scientists from various disciplines such as psychology, psycholinguistics, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, linguistics, several didactics, sociology, and educational science. IDeA thus has become a multi-disciplinary joint venture conducting both comprehensive longitudinal studies and cross-sectional focused empirical studies.

Abstract:
Jugendliche mit Migrationshintergrund gehören oft zu den Bildungsverlierern in Deutschland. Meist verfügen sie jedoch über ausgeprägte motivationale Ressourcen. Anhand der Zielorientierungen, Bildungsaspirationen und Schulnoten von 117 Kindern der vierten Klasse (43 ohne Migrationshintergrund, 27 mit türkischem, 47 mit Migrationshintergrund aus anderen Herkunftsländern) werden die Befunde in einer Stichprobe von Grundschulkindern repliziert. Die möglicherweise unterschiedliche Funktionalität der Zielorientierungen für das schulische Lernen innerhalb der verschiedenen Gruppen wird diskutiert.
Abstract (english):
In Germany, high school students with immigrant backgrounds are often at risk regarding their academic achievement despite possessing good motivational resources. Drawing on goal orienta-tions, educational aspirations and grades of 117 fourth graders (43 without immigrant back-ground, 27 with Turkish immigrant background, and 47 with immigrant backgrounds from several other countries) we replicate these findings for an elementary school sample. Possible differences in the functionality of goal orientations for academic learning are discussed.

Abstract:
Der Artikel ist eine Analyse der an deutschen Hochschulen zunehmenden Graduiertenschulen. Am Beispiel des Trainingsprogramms für DoktorandInnen und Post-Docs aller Disziplinen an der Goethe Universität in Frankfurt/M. wird gezeigt, wie sich die Ausbildung von ForscherInnen verändert. Als Ausbildungsstätte verstanden bieten die Universitäten Kurse und Workshops an, die für eine wissenschaftliche Karriere als notwendig angesehen werden. Dabei gerät die Krise der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis als Generierung des Neuen vermehrt aus dem Blick.
Abstract (english):
The article focuses on ther change within German universities in regard of the doctoral and post-doctoral programmes. In analysing the so-called training programmes of the Goethe University in Frankfurt/M. it becomes obvious that structuring the process of research looses its centre. The necessary crisis of emerging knowledge takes no longer part.

Abstract (english):
As demonstrated by the Overlapping Waves Model (Siegler, 1996), children's strategy use in arithmetic tasks is variable, adaptive, and changes gradually with age and experience. In this study, first grade elementary school children (n = 73), who scored high, middle, or low in a standardized scholastic mathematic achievement test, were confronted with different arithmetic tasks (simple addition, e.g., 3 + 2, simple subtraction, e.g., 7 - 2, and more advanced addition, e.g., 7 + 9) to evoke different calculation strategies. Video analysis and children's self-report were used to identify individual strategy behavior. In accordance with the Overlapping Waves Model, children in all achievement groups showed variable and multiple strategy usage and adapted their behavior to the tasks of the different categories. We demonstrated that not only low achievers differed from normal achievers but also that high achievers exhibited a unique pattern of strategy behavior in early mathematics.

Abstract (english):
Gender differences in mathematical achievement have been examined in a wide range of age groups but only a few studies addressed this issue in preschool children. We compared preschool girls (n=570) and boys (n=524) from Germany with regard to numerical competencies. Differences in overall group means and the frequency of representation at low, middle, or high levels of performance were explored for girls and boys. Analysis of overall group means revealed that boys showed a better performance than girls (d=.32). The analysis of frequencies showed differences in both tails but not in the middle of the distribution of numerical competencies. While boys were more often found at higher levels of performance, girls were found to be overrepresented in the low-ability end of the distribution. These findings demonstrate that gender differences in mathematical achievement can emerge before school entry and stress the importance of further research looking for gender divides in mathematical achievement in preschool children from different countries as well as possible underlying factors.

Abstract (english):
The aim of the present study was to investigate whether preschool children with limitations in the visual or phonological working memory are disadvantaged in the acquisition of school relevant precursor skills at school entry. A sample of 92 children was divided into three subgroups depending on their performance in visual and phonological working memory tasks in their last year before school entry (T1). At T1 the children were tested on cognitive measures as well as quantity-number competencies and phonological awareness tasks. Shortly after school entry (T2), the precursor skills were assessed again. The findings indicate that preschool children with reduced phonological working memory capacity show weaker numerical competencies before school entry and weaker phonological awareness skills at the beginning of school compared to an unimpaired control group. On the other hand, visual working memory limitations in preschool only affect numerical competencies before and particularly after school entry.
