Abstract: Diagnostik und Förderung werden zunehmend als Bestandteile professioneller Bildungsarbeit in Kitas anerkannt. Ihre Umsetzung bedarf entsprechender Kompetenzen. In einer Fragebogenstudie wurden Kenntnisse zu Diagnostik und Förderung von 285 pädagogischen Fachkräften mittels einer Fallvignette untersucht. Die schriftlichen Antworten gaben erste Hinweise darauf, über welche diagnostischen und förderbezogenen Kenntnisse sie in den Bereichen Sprache und Mathematik verfügen. Durch latente Klassenanalysen wurden fünf Fachkraftgruppen mit unterschiedlichen Kenntnissen identifiziert. Diese zeigten sich entweder vorwiegend austauschorientiert (C1), vorwiegend ideenlos (C2), vorwiegend beobachtungs- und förderorientiert (C3), vorwiegend förderorientiert (C4) oder vorwiegend beobachtungs- und austauschorientiert (C5). Die Gruppen unterschieden sich u.a. hinsichtlich der Einstellungen gegenüber Diagnostik sowie der wahrgenommenen beruflichen Belastung. Konsequenzen für die Professionalisierung pädagogischer Fachkräfte sowie für zukünftige Forschung werden diskutiert. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (english): Diagnostics and instructional support are key components of professional early education, and are associated with specific competencies. To contribute to this field of research, we conducted a survey study with 285 early childhood educators. Educators' knowledge of diagnostics and instructional support regarding children's language and mathematic development was assessed by a case vignette. Latent class analysis identified five groups of educators differing with regard to their knowledge. Their written answers were characterized by either pointing out cooperation with others (C1), a lack of one's own ideas (C2), emphasizing both observation and support methods (C3), a focus on support methods (C4), or focusing on methods of observation and cooperation (C5). Moreover, these groups differed in other facets of professional competencies and structural features. Significant differences were revealed regarding their beliefs toward assessment of skills and their individual stress level. Abstract: For service implementations to be widely adopted, it is necessary for the expectations of the key stakeholders to be considered. Failure to do so may lead to services reflecting ideological gaps, which will inadvertently create dissatisfaction among its users. Learning analytics research has begun to recognise the importance of understanding the student perspective towards the services that could be potentially offered; however, student engagement remains low. Furthermore, there has been no attempt to explore whether students can be segmented into different groups based on their expectations towards learning analytics services. In doing so, it allows for a greater understanding of what is and is not expected from learning analytics services within a sample of students. The current exploratory work addresses this limitation by using the three-step approach to latent class analysis to understand whether student expectations of learning analytics services can clearly be segmented, using self-report data obtained from a sample of students at an Open University in the Netherlands. The findings show that student expectations regarding ethical and privacy elements of a learning analytics service are consistent across all groups; however, those expectations of service features are quite variable. These results are discussed in relation to previous work on student stakeholder perspectives, policy development, and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english): Using data from 1,571 ninth-grade students (Mage = 14.62) from 82 academic track schools in Germany and their predominantly Caucasian middle-class parents, configurations of different family characteristics reported by parents were investigated. Latent profile analyses considering academic involvement, family interest, parents' self-concept, child's need for support, and parents' time and energy identified average, indifferent, motivated and engaged, motivated and disengaged, and involved families. Cross-sectional and longitudinal associations with students' motivational (self-concept, effort, and interest) and achievement outcomes (achievement test and grades) in math were analyzed. Students from families classified as motivated and disengaged showed higher initial levels motivation and achievement. Over 5 months, these students also showed an increase in self-concept and higher achievement than students from other family types. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract: Das Ziel des Beitrags [besteht] darin, alternative Unterscheidungskriterien von Ganztagsschulen zu suchen. Hierfür haben wir die inhaltliche Breite der Ganztagsangebote, die Zeitorganisation sowie die Verbindung von Angeboten und Unterricht herangezogen. Zunächst ist festzuhalten, dass diese Kriterien geeignet sind, um Ganztagsschulen voneinander zu differenzieren, die sich in charakteristischer Weise bezüglich der verschiedenen Indikatoren unterscheiden. Dies unterstützt die in diesem Beitrag unterliegende Argumentation, dass die Unterscheidung von offenen, teilgebundenen und gebundenen Ganztagsschulen zwar eine wichtige, aber für die Beschreibung von Ganztagsschulen nur sehr verengte und damit wenig nützliche Sicht auf den Ganztagsschulbetrieb liefert. Die dargestellten Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich die Profile nur bedingt hinsichtlich des Verpflichtungsgrads der Teilnahme unterscheiden. [...] Ebenfalls sind nur wenige der identifizierten Profile durch eine Schulform charakterisiert. [...] Insgesamt betrachtet sind die hier berichteten Ergebnisse anschlussfähig an frühere Arbeiten zur Differenzierung von Ganztagsschulen, bieten jedoch auch Anlass, diese kritisch zu betrachten. [...] Unsere Ergebnisse deuten [...] darauf hin, dass die Vereinfachung auf bloß vier Ganztagsschultypen der Vielfalt an schulischen Ausformungen im Feld kaum gerecht wird. [...] Insgesamt zeigt die Befundlage, dass es kaum möglich sein wird, eine Typologie für Ganztagsschulen zu entwickeln, die der Vielfalt in der deutschen Ganztagsschullandschaft gerecht werden kann. Gleichzeitig sollten Unterscheidungsmerkmale herangezogen werden, die beschreiben, wie Ganztagsschulen die Möglichkeiten, die der Ganztagsschulbetrieb bietet, nutzen. Diese sind nach unseren Befunden für sich zu betrachten und können nur bedingt zueinander in Beziehung gesetzt werden, wenn nicht jede Schule als Einzelfall berücksichtigt werden sollte, sondern auch (quantitative repräsentative) Daten für Bildungspolitik und -administration geliefert werden. Abstract (english): Research has shown that participation in extracurricular activities has a positive effect on adolescents' social behaviour and academic performance; however, the reciprocal influence of extracurricular activities and leisure on the development of adolescents' academic performance and social behaviour is unclear. In our study, we investigate the effect of school based and out-of-school leisure activities on adolescent's social and scholastic development. We also explore how students' gender, socioeconomic status and ethnicity influence their choice of, and engagement in activities. A sample of 5278 students (females 50%; migrant background 26%) filled in questionnaires in grade 5 and 7 and provided personal background information as well as evidence of their engagement in extracurricular and leisure activities, their social behaviour and academic performance. Using latent class analysis, we distinguished five identity-related patterns of engagement in extracurricular and leisure activities among 5th-graders. We found a connection between adolescents' gender, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity and their choice of, and engagement in, extracurricular and leisure activities, social behaviour and grades. We also identified a link between adolescents' patterns of engagement in extracurricular and leisure activities and developmental tendencies in their social behaviour and scholastic achievement between grades 5 and 7. Abstract: This study investigates if motivational regulation leads to a successful learning behaviour. As theoretical background served a comprehensive theoretical model of action and learning which broadens the theory of action phases with specific elements of emotional regulation. 205 bachelor students of business administration answered an online questionnaire including 53 students with detailed data on course grades and study-time measure with a daily time-diary over a period of five months. Questionnaire Scales: Perceived Threat, Sensitive Coping, Acceptance of Responsibility, Outcome Expectancy, Self-Efficacy, Persistent Goal Pursuit: Maintenance, Persistent Goal Pursuit: Distraction, Goal Congruent Monitoring, Working with Peers, Generation of Positive Emotions, Effort Avoidance after Negative Emotions, Metacognitive Learning Strategies. In a 2-step-analysis process based on mixed-distribution models, 5 pattern of motivational regulation were identified: Pragmatic Learning Motivation (26%), Strategic Learning Motivation (21%), Threat Oriented Leaning Motivation (20%), Negative Learning Motivation (17%), Self-Determined Learning Motivation (17%). The study-time investment and grades of these 5 student types were as expected with one exception. The students with a negative learning motivation display surprisingly good grades and very high investment of learning time. This might be the result of a selection process and seems to be very simple compensation strategy for amotivation. The Integrated Model of Learning and Action seems very useful to identify different styles of motivational regulation and explaining grades as well as invested learning time.

Abstract: Lernverhalten und Lehrorganisation werden als komplementäre Komponenten einer Lernkultur betrachtet. Auf der Grundlage eines Modells der Lernmotivation wurde das Lernverhalten Studierender mit einer Latenten Klassenanalyse untersucht. Die Gruppenprofile wurden zu Noten und Workload-Daten einer Zeitbudget-Erhebung in Bezug gesetzt. Es zeigte sich, dass nur eine Gruppe Studierender ihren Lernprozess unter herkömmlichen Bedingungen selbstbestimmt erfolgreich gestaltet. Eine andere Lehrorganisation könnte Lernende anderer Typen der Motivationsregulation besser unterstützen.
Abstract (english): Learning behavior and teaching organisation are regarded as complementary components of a learning culture. Using a model of learning motivation, we investigated the learning behavior of students using a latent class analysis. We then matched the group profiles to grades and to workload, as measured by a time-budget analysis. We found that only one group of students operating under conditions typical of traditional teaching organisation was able to regulate their learning behavior sucessfully. An alternative type of teaching organisation may assist groups of students with different profiles much more effectively.
