Abstract (english):
For the successful realisation of complex systems of interacting and reactive software and hardware components the use of a precise language at different stages of the development process is of crucial importance. Petri nets are becoming increasingly popular in this area, as they provide a uniform language supporting the tasks of modelling, validation, and verification. Their popularity is due to the fact that Petri nets capture fundamental aspects of causality, concurrency and choice in a natural and mathematically precise way without compromising readability. The use of Petri Nets (P/T-Nets, Coloured Petri Nets and extensions) in the formal process of software engineering, covering modelling, validation, and verification, will be presented as well as their application and tools supporting the disciplines mentioned above. Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to get a first approximation of the usefulness of online forums with regard to information seeking and knowledge generation. This study captures the characteristics of knowledge generation by examining the pragmatics and types of information needs of posted questions and by investigating knowledge related characteristics of discussion posts as well as the success of communication. Three online forums were examined. The data set consists of 55 threads, containing 533 posts which were categorized manually by two researchers. Results show that questioners often ask for personal estimations. Information needs often aim for actionable insights or uncertainty reduction. With regard to answers, factual information is the dominant content type and has the highest knowledge value as it is the strongest predictor with regard to the generation of new knowledge. Opinions are also relevant, but in a rather subsequent and complementary way. Emotional aspects are scarcely observed. Overall, results indicate that knowledge creation predominantly follows a socio-cultural paradigm of knowledge exchange. Although the investigation captures important aspects of knowledge building processes, the measurement of the forums' knowledge value is still rather limited. Success is only partly measurable with the current scheme. The central coding category "new topical knowledge" is only of nominal value and therefore not able to compare different kinds of knowledge gains in the course of discussion. The investigation reaches out beyond studies that do not consider that the role and relevance of posts is dependent on the state of the discussion. Furthermore, the paper integrates two perspectives of knowledge value: the success of the questioner with regard to the expressed information need and the knowledge building value for communicants and readers. Abstract:
Ausgewählte Visualisierungsanwendungen der jüngeren Vergangenheit, die den Retrievalprozess betreffen, werden vorgestellt. Die Einsatzszenarien reichen von mobilen kleinformatigen Anwendungen bis zu großformatigen Darstellungen auf hochauflösenden Bildschirmen, von integrativen Arbeitsplätzen für den einzelnen Nutzer bis zur Nutzung interaktiver Oberflächen für das kollaborative Retrieval. Das Konzept der Blended Library wird erläutert. Perspektivische Überlegungen zu zukünftigen Entwicklungsschritten von Bibliothekskatalogen sowie zum Einfluss von Visualisierungsanwendungen auf die Informationspraxis werden angestellt. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (english):
An overview of recent visual applications in the field of information searching is given. Application settings for information visualization span from small-sized mobile devices to wall-sized high resolution displays, from integrative workplaces for individual use to interactive surfaces for collaborative information seeking activities. The idea of the Blended Library is presented. Possible next stages of library catalogue development are discussed. Finally, some observations regarding the influence of visualization applications on information practice are mentioned. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
This study explores the relationship between out-of-home behavior and daily mood of community-dwelling older adults with different levels of cognitive impairment across four consecutive weeks. The sample included 16 persons with early stage Alzheimer's disease (AD), 30 persons with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and 95 cognitively healthy persons (CH). Using a multi-method approach, GPS tracking and daily-diary data were combined on a day-to-day basis. AD and MCI adults showed lower mood than the CH group. Whereas stronger positive links between mood and out-of-home behavior were found for AD compared to the total sample on an aggregate level, predicting daily mood by person (i.e., cognition) and occasion-specific characteristics (i.e., mobility and weekday), using multilevel regression analysis revealed no corresponding effect. In conclusion, cognitive status in old age appears to impact on mobility and mood as such, rather than on the mood and out-of-home behavior connection.

Abstract:
Contemporary sentiment analysis approaches rely on lexicon based methods. This is mainly due to their simplicity, although the best empirical results can be achieved by more complex techniques. We introduce a method to assess suitability of generic sentiment lexicons for a given domain, namely to identify frequent bigrams where a polar word switches polarity. Our bigrams are scored using Lexicographers Mutual Information and leveraging large automatically obtained corpora. Our score matches human perception of polarity and demonstrates improvements in classification results using our enhanced context-aware method. Our method enhances the assessment of lexicon based sentiment detection and can be further userd to quantify ambiguous words. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
This paper discusses social media usage and quality evaluation for education related information seeking. To address this, we conducted a focus group study and an online survey with students enrolled in education related study paths. Altogether, results show that social media and classic or standard information resources do not compete but rather complement each other. Social media are primarily consulted in early phases of the information seeking process and for communication and knowledge management purposes. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
Die Arbeit untersucht im Hinblick auf Fragen der Inhaltserschließung das Tagging-Verhalten der Nutzer des Social Bookmarking Dienstes Edutags am Beispiel der Onlineressourcen für das Fach Englisch. Zentrale Fragestellung ist, wie bei 'Edutags' der Recall beim Retrieval von fachspezifischen Ressourcen erhöht werden kann. Dazu wurden unzureichend indexierte Ressourcen ermittelt und auf ihre Relevanz für den Englischunterricht hin überprüft. Der intellektuell gesichtete Tag-Bestand zum Schulfach Englisch im Informationssystem Edutags wird untersucht und auf die Fachsystematik von der Suchmaschine für Unterrichtsmedien Elixier abgebildet. Im Anschluss werden auch die unzureichend indexierten Ressourcen systematisiert. Zum Schluss wird überlegt, welche Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung des Retrievals im Informationssystem Edutags ergriffen werden können. (DIPF/Autor)

Abstract:
Edutags ist ein Social Bookmarking-Dienst für Lehrkräfte, die damit Internetquellen sammeln, strukturieren und teilen, die für das Lehren und Lernen mit digitalen Medien geeignet sind. Dieser Artikel erläutert, wie die Idee des Social Tagging für die Strukturierung von Wissen sowohl von Einzelnen als auch in der Gruppe genutzt werden kann. Aus diesen grundsätzlichen Überlegungen heraus werden Einsatzszenarien für einen Social Bookmarking-Dienst in Seminaren und Lehrveranstaltungen in der Lehrerausbildung an der Hochschule oder im Studienseminar vorgeschlagen.
