Abstract: Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird aufgezeigt, dass elterliches kulturelles Kapital für den Zugang zu kultureller Bildung von Jugendlichen eine wesentliche Rolle spielt. Es wird argumentiert, dass die intergenerationale Weitergabe von kulturellem Kapital einen Mechanismus darstellt, der ungleiche Chancen auf Teilhabe an kultureller Bildung von Generation zu Generation perpetuieren kann. Der Beitrag stützt sich auf die Kapitaltheorie Pierre Bourdieus und leitet zum einen eine eng daran angelehnte, elaborierte Operationalisierung für kulturelles Kapital her. Zum anderen wird auch kulturelle Bildung differenzierter als üblich in hoch- und soziokulturellen Facetten erfasst, die sowohl formale, non-formale als auch informelle Lernkontexte in allen Sparten einschließen. Die Effekte von elterlichem kulturellem Kapital auf die kulturellen Aktivitäten der Jugendlichen werden auf Basis von NEPS-Daten mit Strukturgleichungsmodellen analysiert. Es zeigt sich, dass hochkulturelle Aktivitäten am stärksten mit der elterlichen Kapitalausstattung zusammenhängen, aber auch außerschulische Kurse, die Teilnahme an Angeboten in Kulturvereinen und der Besuch einer Schule mit musischem Profil, während für kulturelle Aktivitäten in Jugendzentren keine Zusammenhänge mit dem kulturellen Kapital der Eltern nachgewiesen werden können. Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen die Notwendigkeit weiterführender Forschung, um Möglichkeiten aufzuzeigen, wie mehr Chancengleichheit in der kulturellen Bildung herbeigeführt werden kann. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (english): In the present article it is shown that parental cultural capital is a crucial factor in accessing arts education. It is argued that the intergenerational transmission of cultural capital is a mechanism which perpetuates unequal opportunities of participating in arts education from one generation to the other. The contribution builds upon Pierre Bourdieus theory and deduces a differentiated operationalization of cultural capital. Arts education is operationalized in its highbrow and sociocultural facets, that include formal, non-formal and informal settings in all cultural branches. The effects of parental cultural capital on arts activities of the adolescents are investigated analyzing data from the German National Educational Panel Study with structural equation models. It can be shown that receptive highbrow cultural activities are most strongly associated with parental cultural capital, followed by courses outside of school, participation in culture clubs and visiting a school with an artistic profile, while no social disparities can be found for cultural activities in youth centers. The results emphasize the need for further research to point out possibilities to foster equal opportunities in participating in arts education. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract: Kulturelle Bildung kann maßgeblich die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung von Kindern und Jugendlichen unterstützen. Im Projekt InKuBi wurde ein Indikatorenset entwickelt, mit dem Entwicklungen in diesem Bereich analysiert werden können. Kinder und Jugendliche können sich durch kreatives Gestalten und die aktive Rezeption von Kunst und Kultur unabhängig von ihrem familiären, kulturellen, sozialen und ökonomischen Hintergrund mit der Welt auseinandersetzen. Schon lange fördert der Bund die kulturelle Bildung im Programm "Kultur macht stark". Bisher lagen aber keine belastbaren Daten zum Status quo und zu Entwicklungen im Rahmen des Programms vor. Um mehr Steuerungswissen zu generieren, wurde im Projekt InKuBi ein exemplarisches Indikatorenset entwickelt. Die Indikatoren orientieren sich an der Systematik des nationalen Bildungsberichts und legen den Grundstein für ein Monitoringsystem kultureller Bildung in Deutschland. Die Studie, die von der Stiftung Mercator gefördert wurde, zeigt die Entstehung und die Grundlagen des Indikatorensets sowie die Bedeutung einer datengestützten Gesamtschau für die kulturelle Bildung im Rahmen eines bundesweiten Bildungsmonitorings. Abstract: This article examines the extent to which normative beliefs on acculturation constitute (a) individual resources and risk factors for adolescents facing developmental tasks and (b) institutional norms that define developmental milieus in secondary schools. To what extent do egalitarianism, multiculturalism, assimilationism, and segregationism help or hinder academic and psychosocial adjustment in mid-adolescence? We examined how both individually endorsed beliefs and socially shared beliefs at the 10th-grade cohort level relate to students' academic performance, educational and occupational aspirations, motivational and emotional attachment to school, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Data came from a random sample of 15- to 17-year-olds in Berlin, Germany, assessed at the end of Grades 9 and 10 (N = 1,992). Multivariate analyses identified egalitarianism and multiculturalism as the most prevalent acculturation beliefs, forming a combined belief pattern that pairs recognition of equality with respect for diversity. At the individual level, this belief pattern was positively related to academic and psychosocial adjustment. Assimilationism beliefs were associated with higher motivational and emotional attachment to school in both minority and majority students. Segregationism beliefs were associated with higher self-esteem in all adolescents regardless of background, but with lower levels of academic performance in immigrant youth. At the grade cohort level, a single bipolar factor (egalitarianism/multiculturalism vs. assimilationism/segregationism) described the institutional diversity culture. An environment characterized by egalitarianism/multiculturalism beliefs was positively associated with motivational and emotional attachment to school but not related to academic adjustment or psychological well-being. Abstract: Mit dem im Februar 2014 gestarteten Berliner Bonus-Programm sollen Schulen an sozialräumlich benachteiligten Standorten unterstützt werden. Verbunden mit dem Ziel, Bildungsbenachteiligungen im Schulsystem entgegenzuwirken, werden den Schulen zusätzliche finanzielle Mittel bereitgestellt, um eigenverantwortlich Schulentwicklungsmaßnahmen durchzuführen. Im Sinne einer bedarfsorientierten Ressourcenallokation sollen somit die Bildungschancen sozial benachteiligter Schüler*innen verbessert werden. Weiterhin soll das Programm einen Beitrag zur Entkopplung von sozialer Herkunft und Bildungserfolg leisten. Im Zeitraum von 2014 bis 2018 erfolgte mit der BONUS-Studie die wissenschaftliche Begleitung und Evaluation des Bonus-Programms. Diese nahm die Bewertung, die Umsetzung sowie die Auswirkungen des Programms in den Blick. Das Programm stößt bei den Schulen auf breite Akzeptanz und konnte in vielen Schulen Entwicklungsprozesse anregen. Auswirkungen im Hinblick auf die Zielsetzungen des Programms zeigten sich jedoch im Evaluationszeitraum nur vereinzelt. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (english): The Berlin Bonus Program, launched in February 2014, is designed to support schools serving disadvantaged communities. In order to counteract educational disadvantages, schools are provided with additional financial resources to implement school improvement measures in their own responsibility. In terms of a needs-oriented resource allocation, the educational opportunities for students at schools serving disadvantaged communities are thus to be improved. Furthermore, the Bonus Program is intended to contribute to the decoupling of educational achievement from socio-economic background. From 2014 to 2018, the scientific monitoring and evaluation of the Bonus Program took place within the framework of the BONUS study. The study focused on the assessment, implementation, and effects of the program. The Bonus Program has been widely accepted by the schools and has stimulated improvement processes in many of them. However, effects with regard to the program's objectives were only apparent in a few cases during the evaluation. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract: Schulen in sozial herausfordernden Lagen arbeiten häufig unter ungünstigen internen und externen Bedingungen. Gleichzeitig sind diese Schulen zentrale Akteure zur Reduzierung von Bildungsungleichheiten und die dort lernenden Schüler*innen in besonderem Maße auf eine hohe schulische Qualität angewiesen. Abstract (english): aking as its point of departure the rapid expansion in the proportion of students graduating with a university entrance diploma (Abitur) in Germany, this paper adds to research on the mechanisms and effects of academic educational expansion, a worldwide phenomenon in the 20th and 21st century. Drawing on Boudon's theory of primary and secondary effects of social origin, we seek to understand if the educational expansion went along with a decreasing or persisting role of social background. Therefore, we analyze educational inequalities in two respects: first, in the transition from primary school to the academic track (Gymnasium) leading to the Abitur and, second, in the transition to tertiary education after academic upper secondary education. The study is based on two student cohorts (initial N = 13,026 and N = 13,873) who obtained university entrance diplomas in 2005 (cohort 1) and 2011/2012 (cohort 2) in the school system of the federal state of Hamburg (Germany). These cohorts were assessed during secondary education between 1996 (start of cohort 1) and 2012 (end of cohort 2). Employing the KHB decomposition method, we break the total effect of social background down into the relative importance of achievement differentials (primary effects) and educational decisions (secondary effects). Our findings indicate no changes in the total effects of social background and thus suggest that educational inequalities related to social origin persisted in both of the transitions we studied. However, when comparing both cohorts, we noted a clear decrease in secondary effects regarding transitions to the academic secondary track, meaning that achievement-related social differences gained in importance compared to the period before the educational expansion. At the same time, we observed a slight increase in the relative importance of secondary effects for transitions to tertiary education during the expansion. As a further result, our study shows that the rapid expansion of academic upper secondary graduation is mainly the consequence of an increase in the number of Abitur graduates via alternative paths besides the Gymnasium.
