Abstract:
(Verlag)

Abstract:
(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (english):
Research Data Management in the humanities is necessary when scholars generate data themselves. In the times of the mass digitization of cultural heritage, information infrastructures can have a big impact on how data is organized. This can cause some problems. Thus, a shared understanding of the roles and aims in data generation will support successful research data management. An active data management plan will document this process. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
We report the results of a group concept mapping study on the topic of digital transformation in German higher education. Students, teachers and administrative employees participated in the study where they first gathered statements which were then clustered and ranked according to importance and feasibility. The results show agreement between all groups that matters of culture and mentality remain the biggest factors for a successful digitalization of higher education. While we found agreement between groups on the importance of topics, those working at the institution are more pessimistic of cultural changes than students. The unification of service platforms and the development of validated didactical concepts for digital learning offerings are also seen as open challenges. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
Information literacy (IL) [1] - and similarly digital literacy [2, 3] - want to convey skills to handle information and data, its use and the creation of new information and services. It emphasizes to teach competencies that enable learners to adapt to new environments and thus foster life-long learning. Artificial intelligence systems (AI) enter all kinds of areas, specifically the educational sector on all levels. For example, learning analytics and learning supportive services are established. Learners might see the opportunities of those services that promise to foster individual learning and skill development. At the same time, they need to develop novel kinds of literacy to understand and to apply AI. Thus, IL teaching and literacy frameworks need to consider an adaptation to recent changes that come with AI. Our contribution wants to start a discussion within the IL expert field on how IL teaching needs to prepare learners for the new era of AI. We will discuss if IL teaching frameworks need to be adapted to foster AI literacy and moreover, how IL teaching concept can benefit from developments in AI. Based on a scoping review in AI in education, we will introduce current ideas of AI technology and applications and discuss them in relation to IL teaching schemes [2]. Following up the dialog of our IL working group [4], we want to contribute to current discussions on AI in education and the potential influence it might have on IL teaching, and reversely. Abstract:
Open science practitioners embrace the ideas of sharing and communicating their research and interests as well as collaborating with like-minded peers, i.e., practicing co-science (McKiernan et al. 2016) such as on the Open Science MOOC platform. If they admit to those goals regarding their research, it can be assumed that those researchers adapt their attitudes and practices towards learning and teaching, respectively. So, if researchers move towards open science practices, will they do so in their higher education teaching? Will education become more open? More generally, what would open science principles (Bezjak et al. 2018) in education look like, for educators and learners, respectively? (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
One of the characteristic features of modern life is the omnipresence of images - in public life as well as in the private surroundings. At latest with coining the term "Visual history" at the beginning of the nineteen nineties historical disciplines are dealing with this ever growing pool of pictorial sources. This is also true for educational history - especially when keeping in mind that the use of images in an educational context is common practice since early modern ages. This concerns the presentation practices, the design of didactic visual media and their use in educational practice as well as the illustrated traces of historical educational practice and historical educational knowledge (e.g. photographs of school buildings or educational scenes). There are various digital picture archives to address the research questions of many historical disciplines. These databases, though, differ widely in purpose and design - and of course they cannot serve every scientific demand. According to Gerhard Paul there should be at least four layers of information evaluation when analysing historical images (reality of depiction, genesis, use and impact). Thus, building up a corpus of image sources with sufficient accompanying information can be quite challenging. As major topic the Pre-Conference Workshop will focus on the impact of the discipline on developing and maintaining of a picture archive. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
Putting images back in context - after digitizing and indexing images Pictura Paedagogica Online (PPO), the picture archive for educational history, is aiming at offering new means for the research on images as historical sources. One step is the project "Interlinking Pictura", a virtual research environment that presents images in the context of their origins and in connection with other digital sources. As case study Bertuch's "Bilderbuch für Kinder" (1790-1830), a major source of cultural studies and educational history, was selected. Another step is the long overdue relaunch of the picture database itself. After evaluating the picture archive, its contents, its shortcomings but also its powers we decided not just to renovate and mend pieces but to reinvent Pictura from the scratch and with new partners. In this talk we want to present the first results in transforming Pictura Peadagogica Online from a picture archive into an interconnection supporting research environment. (DIPF/Orig.)
