Abstract: Scientific inquiries into the nature of intelligence have journeyed for more than a century and have yielded a broad collection of theoretical conceptions and measurements. This article seeks to provide an overview of research on intelligence. Central theoretical conceptions and related measurement issues are reviewed along three orientations (i.e., the product-process, the human-ecology, the lifespan developmental) as well as their relative emphases on interactions between these dimensions.
