Assessing Assessment Cultures

Keynote given by Prof. Dr. Eckhard Klieme on cultural differences in the recording of learning outcomes and prerequisites

In November 2017, the 18th conference of the Association for Educational Assessment – Europe (AEA-Europe) took place in Prague. The Europe-wide association of assessment experts meets once a year to discuss current developments in the surveying of school and teaching quality. The theme of this year's conference was "Assessment Cultures in a Globalised World". Prof. Dr. Eckhard Klieme held the closing keynote of the event. Based on data from the study PISA 2015 (Programme for International Student Assessment), he examined, among other things, which individual, cultural and organisational factors assessment practices in different countries are based on and how feedback from teachers differs.
