Now Published: Knowledge for Education 2019 to 2020
DIPF looks back on two successful and challenging years – not least marked by the Corona pandemic – in the 2019 to 2020 activity report now published.
The activity report explains the most important milestones of the institute. In addition, the individual DIPF departments introduce themselves and shed light on tasks as well as future strategies.
Among many other milestones in 2019/2020 is the application for the special status Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung (VerbundFDB), which convinced the German Council of Science and Humanities. The goal is to realize a future-oriented infrastructure for the data of the entire empirical education research and thus to open up new perspectives for it.
Another milestone that will shape the Institute's work in the coming years comes under the heading of collaboration. Together with twelve external partners, the DIPF was able to acquire the research network of the federal-state initiative "Schule macht stark". The Institute will not only be responsible for the coordination, but will also participate in the network with all its departments. Its aim is to provide better research support for schools in socially challenging situations. Scientists from many disciplines will work together with 200 schools nationwide to develop concepts for practice. Kai Maaz, Executive Director of the Institute, speaks of a "whole new level of knowledge transfer" in this context.
The Corona pandemic also had a lasting impact on the DIPF. Thus, not only were the working lives of DIPF staff affected by this previously unprecedented situation, but the departments also conducted numerous studies on the educational situation under pandemic conditions. The expertise of the Institute was and is in great demand in this situation and flowed into numerous statements.
