FLINK – How to Read Fluently
FLINK is a digital reading fluency training programme integrated into the quop learning progress diagnostics platform. Using adaptive text fading, it specifically trains reading speed in students from grades 2 to 6 and enables individualised support directly in everyday school life.
About
FLINK (How to read fluently – Individual intervention on reading competencies) is a digital, browser-based reading fluency training programme. The aim of the training is to foster the reading speed of children in grades 2 to 6 in an individualised way. The training can be integrated directly into everyday school life without the need for additional support from teachers. The training is based on the so-called “text fading” approach: sentences are faded out letter by letter on the screen at an individually adapted speed. The perceived time pressure encourages children to read faster without compromising reading accuracy or reading comprehension.
FLINK is completely web-based and embedded in the existing quop platform for learning progress assessments managed by the University of Münster. Teachers can activate the training for individual children or entire groups (ideally based on the results of the regular quop reading tests). The training can be flexibly integrated into everyday school life, e.g. as part of remedial teaching or in independent study phases. FLINK therefore offers an efficient and easy-to-implement way to promote reading fluency at an early age and thus strengthen the basis for successful learning to read.
