Open Science Codex

DIPF commits to the principles and practices of open science. It makes research transparent, reproducible and reusable and offers society access to findings and to scientific processes.

DIPF regards the opening of science as part of good scientific practice and promotes a culture of open science. Wherever possible,DIPF follows the FAIR principles and makes research and its products findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.

By ensuring that research results, data and methods are easily accessible, the institute creates equal opportunities for access to science. Transparency is fostered and all processes are comprehensible, thus ensuring that results, data and methods can be verified and re-used. This reusability of research enables better use of resources and promotes innovation.

Open practices are promoted by developing, expanding and making sustainably available infrastructures and services to staff and educational researchers. In addition, awareness of open science is raised through appropriate advisory and training services and a dialogue platform offering best practices.

As the results of work at DIPF are intended to enter scientific and public discourse and to enable social participation, the institute also attaches great importance to science communication and transfer. At the same time, DIPF networks with open science initiatives to find ways of establishing open science as the standard.

The dimensions of open science implemented at DIPF range from Open Access Publications, Open & FAIR Data and Open Methodology to Open Educational Resources, Open Research Software and Open Infrastructure.
