PROMPT – Optimizing Self-Regulated Learning Processes With Digital Prompts
The PROMPT project focuses on developing an evidence-based, child-friendly prototype of a learning planner app that supports school children in self-regulated learning with digital media. The final version of the prototype will be made openly accessible for widespread use.
Project Description
Digital learning environments place high demands on learners’ self-regulatory abilities, which children often cannot meet. The PROMPT project aims to research and develop instruments to improve self-regulated learning in digital learning environments for school children. The knowledge generated in the project shall be made widely available so that educational technology companies and educational institutions can use it for new products or to improve existing applications. A prototype of a child-friendly learning planner app represents a central aspect of this knowledge transfer. This prototype shall practically demonstrate scientific findings that are important for an improvement of self-regulated learning with learning apps in school children. Subject to the project, a detailed, multi-step optimization research process will be run on the design of the learning planner app to achieve optimal effectiveness. The final version of the prototype will be prepared for broad usability and accessibility by companies and educational institutions, and distributed as an open educational resource. The PROMPT project intends to make a direct contribution to supporting children’s self-regulation abilities in dealing with digital learning environments.
Project Objectives
The key goal of the project is to develop instruments to improve self-regulated learning in digital learning environments for school children. The knowledge gained shall be made widely available so that it can be used directly by educational institutions and companies in the education industry. The prototype of a child-friendly learning planner app represents a central aspect of this knowledge transfer.
