Abstract(englisch):
The volume as a whole is an implicit comparative study, not a structured comparison of two educational systems. The contribution serve to study parallels as well as differences and allow the reader to look into the singularity ofcertain problems and developments. The authors are united in the idea of studying educational transformation issues and developments in the respective country against the background of the other one and relating the findings (on plans and concepts, facts and figures, processes and outcomes) to the bi-national and international discourse. The democratic transformation of socio-political systems follows, in addition to certain often significant, national or regional peculiarities, universal patterns and consequently the modernisation of education systems produces common features and outcomes.
