Abstract: Welchen Beitrag leisten Weiterbildungseinrichtungen zur Kompetenzentwicklung älterer Arbeitskräfte? (DIPF/Autor)

Title: Cognitive load beim Lernen aus Lösungsbeispielen

Abstract (english): The effectiveness of learning from worked-out examples, in comparison to problem-solving, is presently explained by the Cognitive Load Theory: Learning from worked-out examples demands less cognitive capacity, more "room" for processes of learning is available. In order to directly test this hypothesis the dual task paradigm was employed. Eighty students of human arts and social sciences were assigned to the cells of a 2x2-factorial design. The learning contents were probability. The learning outcomes were assessed by the post-test. The result pattern with respect to learning outcomes and the reaction times to the secondary task in the four experimental groups fully supported the expectations based on Cognitive Load Theory.

Title: Methoden zur Förderung aktiven Lernens in Seminaren. 2., überarb. u. erw. Aufl.

Title: Neue Lern- und Lehrkultur.

Abstract (english): Two main problems are the focal points of the discussion: firstly how a different learning and teaching culture can be achieved which permits the modification of teaching and learning, and secondly, which consequences are necessary to transfer "best-practice" examples to every day school and lesson procedure, and which obstacles stand in the way of this. The search for answers can - based on the results of the discussion - be supported by the following vi ews: the development and spread of a new learning and teaching culture obviously demands the realisation of a systematic approach, a link with the fashioning of life both inside and outside school, taking into account the particular context (people involved, specific situation), the inclusion of pupils and parents, a rethink in relation to concept, didactics and organisation of lessons ("problem- based learning") as well as inter-disciplinary and applied learning using problem simulation.
