Abstract:
The Open Science Fellow Program built a community where researchers learned how to work openly. Within this environment, questions emerged on what it means to teach openly, i.e. which practices represent open learning and teaching and which examples can be shared amongst colleagues and peers? Different concepts of open educational practices (OEP) aim at giving answers to open learning and teaching. At the same time, OEP still lack a common definition and many discussions on the topic only give minimal or implicit guidance to concrete approaches of being open -despite the creation and sharing of open educational resources. Investigating how we as practitioners implement concepts of OEP in the classroom was the starting point for the autoethnographic study we describe in this paper. We conducted a literature review to map explicit concepts of OEP, we reflected those concepts regarding the adaptation in our own teaching and our experiences with OER-based and other open teaching concepts. We discuss four research papers and our respective position as practitioners in higher education in Germany. We reflect on the current state of ideas of OEP and their practical adaptation and implementation in learning and teaching scenarios. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
Research that investigates respective researchers' engagement in Open Science varies widely in the topics addressed, methods employed, and disciplines investigated, which makes it difficult to integrate and compare its results. To investigate current outcomes of Open Science research, and to get a better understanding on well-researched topics and research gaps, we aimed at providing an openly accessible overview of empirical studies that focus on different aspects of Open Science in different scientific disciplines, academic groups and geographical regions. In this paper, we describe a data set of studies about Open Science practices retrieved following a PRISMA approach to compile a literature review. We included studies from the Scopus and Web of Science databases with keywords relating to Open Science between the years 2000 and 2020, as well as a snowball search for relevant articles. Studies that did not investigate any aspect of Open Science, or weren't peer-reviewed were excluded, resulting in a total of 695 remaining studies. The data set was collaboratively annotated to ensure intercoder reliability of the coded data.

Abstract (english):
This paper focuses on a crowdfunding initiative for Open Access E-Books in educational research. It involves research communities and academic libraries for establishing a community of subscribers to share the publication fees of open e-books. The background is the ongoing transformation of the scholarly publication landscape towards Open Access (Suber 2012), which fundamentally changes funding in publishing. There is a demand for free access and circulation of scientific knowledge supported by most national research funding agencies and the European Commission (see Sherpa Juliet 2022), while publishers adjust their business models, academic libraries and research communities promote the idea and follow new conditions. Studies have argued for a seamless financial shift without the need of extra resources (Schimmer et al. 2015). But several deficits become visible when looking at the full range of publication types and cultures. Sustainable financial models are lacking and a fundamental shift in financing is realised: while the physical book is paid through its usage, the digital open access book is funded through publication fees. Given this new condition, the author - instead of the reader - pays for the publication. The pay wall and its barrier for participation changes from reading to publishing through paying the so called article or book processing charges (APC, BPC). This change impacts more intensively the Social Sciences and Humanities because of the less established publication fees in these research communities. (DIPF/Orig.)
