KoaLa Reader – Cognitively Activating and Collaborative Learning

The KoaLa reader is an online self-study module that helps (prospective) teachers to promote deep learning processes for all students. Its focus lies on two key aspects of effective teaching: cognitive activation and collaborative learning.

About

The KoaLa-Reader is an interactive and browser-based self-learning module. It compiles research literature and practical impulses for lesson development. It concentrates on how lessons can be designed to promote deep learning processes for all students. Four chapters summarise the current state of research on cognitive activation and collaborative learning. Implemented quizzes allow readers to test their own knowledge. The reader was developed in the KoaLa project as part of the “Schule macht stark” (SchuMaS) initiative, particularly for teachers at schools in socially challenging situations, and is available online in German.

Cooperations

The reader was created with tet.folio, a teaching and learning platform kindly provided free of charge by Freie Universität Berlin.
