BE-WELL – Behaviours, Emotions & Worries in Everyday SchooL Life
BE-WELL develops a digital monitoring system for anonymous assessment of students' well-being. Schools receive aggregated dashboard reports on risk and protective factors together with evidence-based recommendations to promote mental health.
Project Description
Mental health problems among children and adolescents have increased substantially in recent years. Schools provide an important setting for prevention but currently lack practical tools to monitor students' well-being and derive evidence-based actions.
BE-WELL develops a digital monitoring system that anonymously assesses psychological and somatic dimensions of student well-being. Short digital surveys are summarised in an aggregated dashboard that provides school staff with insights into risk and protective factors. The monitoring system is co-designed with young people and school professionals to ensure usability, relevance, and practical applicability.
BE-WELL connects research, prevention, and educational practice. The dashboard will be integrated into the Youth Mental Health platform GUSTAPH of the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) and is intended to become part of a sustainable early-warning infrastructure while simultaneously providing valuable research data on adolescent well-being.
Project Objectives
BE-WELL develops and evaluates a digital monitoring system for anonymous assessment of student well-being to promote mental health in schools. The project supports schools in identifying needs at an early stage, implementing evidence-based prevention measures, and strengthening the link between research and educational practice.
