Modelling and measurement of domain specific problem solving competencies of industrial clerks

The project ‘DomPL-IK’ is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and embedded in the research initiative Ascot (technology oriented measurement of competencies in professional training). This initiative aims at developing test instruments to measure selected competencies of professionally qualified test takers reliably and with high methodological test standards. In the context of the first national sponsorship test instruments and items are developed. They are proved nationwide on the basis of adjusted competency constructs as well as modelling embedded in domain specific problem solving competencies.

MotivO – Reading Motivation and Reading Achievement across Orthographies

The Project MotivO aims at investigating and comparing motivational aspects of reading achievement across orthographies (German vs. Hebrew). Within the context of a cooperation project, German and Israeli 2nd and 4th Graders will be compared regarding their reading motivation and reading achievement in a cross-language research design to detect positive or negative feelings towards reading as well as changes across time.

The project aims to investigate the effectiveness of teaching units for primary school science classrooms which integrate the use of digital media. In this scope, we examine (1) whether the digital media can be used effectively to support science learning as well as to activate self-regulation of learning, and (2) whether the additional implementation of adaptive elements can particularly support at risk students.

The NEOS study monitors the newly conceptualised upper secondary school in Schleswig-Holstein scientifically. The aim of the monitoring is to provide information relevant to steering with regard to acceptance, evaluation of success, implementation and school support needs concerning the innovations.

NEPS – National Educational Panel Study, stage 5

In modern knowledge-based societies, education is a key prerequisite for economic growth and well-being as well as for coping with new demands in a rapidly changing, globalised world. The National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) is conducted for the Federal Republic of Germany to find out more about the acquisition of education and its consequences for individual lives, to describe and analyse central educational processes and pathways across the entire lifespan. The National Educational Panel Study is located at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories e.V. (LIfBi) at Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg. NEPS represents an interdisciplinary, German-wide network of excellence, its coordination and administration is chaired by Prof. Dr. Hans-Günther Roßbach.

NEPS TBT: Work Package Technology Based Testing

NimoErt – Non-monetary Outcomes of Education

This cooperative project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), focused on the investigation of non-monetary outcomes of education in fields like health and non-cognitive skills.

OECD Low Literacy – Assessing Literacy via Tablets

In cooperation with the OECD, the project team develops the PIAAC test further for assessing low literacy of adults. Additional test languages such as Arabic and Dari as well as a tablet-based delivery further broaden its range of potential applications.
