DiSO – Digital Teaching/Learning & Student Outcomes: A Second Order Meta-Analysis

To open up the research field of effectiveness studies on digital media in learning, we are currently conducting a review study in the form of a meta-synthesis. To this end, we are quantitatively integrating the findings of international meta-analyses with the goal of examining the effectiveness of different digital media in learning for different target groups.

Domain Data Protocols for empirical educational research

The project co-operation “Domain Data Protocols for empirical educational research – a contribution to standardizing and increasing the quality of research data management“ targets the development of so-called Domain Data Protocols (DDPs) for managing empirical educational research, i.e. open standard protocols that can be referenced for data management. Empirical educational researchers are thus supported in producing data that are quality-assured and re-usable.

Dossier: Open Educational Resources (OER)

The dossier "Open Educational Resources – fields of action, actors, potential for development from an international perspective" treats the international discourse on the subject of OER by presenting an annotated index of central actors as well as a category-based overview of trend-setting publications, initiatives and projects.

DYNAMIC – Dynamic Network Approach of Mental Health in Children and Adolescents

In DYNAMIC, the DIPF examines dynamic relations between various determinants of mental health in children and adolescents over time. The aim is to identify risk constellations at an early stage in order to develop personalised, adaptive interventions.

DYNAMO – Dynamics of Need Associated Motivation

The DYNAMO project investigated the association between fulfillment of basic psychological needs and motivation in children and adolescents. To that end, a measurement instrument was developed which allows for assessing these two constructs in these age groups.

E-CER – In Search for the Good Teacher – Centre for Excellence in Research

What are the characteristics of a "good" teacher? Researchers from six countries are investigating this question. They are supported by the European Association of Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI). Funding is provided by the European Association of Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI).

E-learning and formative assessment

In this project the differential effectiveness of formative assessment on the described learning process in the integrated learning and action model shall be measured in a longitudinal study.

EABU – Emergence and Reducation of Educational Inequalities in Childhood and Adolescence

The research group aims to identify the causes of educational inequalities, analyse changes over time and identify the risks and opportunities of digitalization to reduce educational inequalities.

EAGLeS – English Acquisition in German Learning Disabled Students

The project EAGLeS examined 5th and 6th graders’ acquisition of English as a foreign language literacy (reading, spelling, grammar) in regard to systematic differences between students with poor native German literacy and their non-afflicted peers. Additionally, a standardized test measuring English as a foreign language literacy was developed and validated.

edu_consort_oa – Project Network Open Access Consortium Education for E-books and Journals

The project network promotes an Open Access culture in educational science and addresses funding in particular. It comprises three projects: crowdfunding for monographs and collections, crowdfunding for journals, and knowledge transfer.

EduArc – Digital educational architectures – Open learning (educational) resources in disseminated learninginfrastructures

The project targets the development of a design concept for disseminated learning infrastructures that provide federated access to digital educational resources.

EDUCATE – Impact of the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic on the Development of Academic Skills

The project EDUCATE investigated the effects of the changed care and school situation during the pandemic on the development of school-relevant domain-general (e.g. executive functions, self-regulation) and domain-specific (e.g. numerical and written language) skills and their implications for the further development of school performance, using an innovative combination of cohort and longitudinal design.

Educational choices and educational pathways within the context of structural changes in Berlin’s secondary school system (BERLIN study)

The BERLIN study evaluates the structural reform of Berlin‘s secondary school system. This reform merged the two non-academic tracks (Hauptschule, Realschule) as well as the comprehensive track (Gesamtschule) into one new track (Integrierte Sekundarschule, ISS) while retaining the academic track (Gymnasium). Another feature of the reform is a new organization of the transition procedure from primary to secondary school.

Educational Myths About the GDR (MythErz)

The BBF | Research Library for the History of Education participated with two sub-projects, a research project and an infrastructure project, in the joint project "Educational myths about the GDR - a dictatorship and its afterlife (MythErz)" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

EffecT – Explaining Inconsistent Effects of Teaching Quality on Educational Outcomes

The aim of the project is to identify aspects contributing to divergent results in teaching quality research. These aspects will be systematized to subsequently determine their relative contribution to the heterogeneity of effects.

EiKlar – EEG in the classroom

The EiKlar project investigates learning processes using neurophysiological measures. The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of learning processes inside the classroom.

elbe – Parental Counseling at Primary Schools

The project elbe addressed the cooperation of teachers and parents, focusing in particular on parental counseling.

ELIXIER – The Search Engine for Educational Media

Elixier is a joint-venture information service by public providers in the form of a shared pool of resources for teaching and learning materials, particularly for school instruction: Education servers run by the federal states, the German Education Server, FWU, the Contake database from Austria and the European MELT project contribute respectively.

EMMA – The Role of Emotions and Metacognitive Processes for Goal Revision

In the project EMMA, we investigated which emotions children report after goal failure, how children adapt their goals after failure, and examine the role of emotions and the evaluation of failure for goal revision.
