In a cooperative project, an instrument for the computer-based, adaptive and behaviour related PISA assessment of ICT-skills of 15-year old students was developed.

Conditions and Consequences of Classroom Assessment

Use and Impact of Competence Measurement in Mathematical Learning and Teaching Processes

Contextualized Information Processing of Educational Content Using Automatic Summarization (Methods)

Subject to a co-operation with DIPF, a Master’s thesis at Technical University Darmstadt presented first approaches to developing a method offering machine-based support of manual summaries of data collections in the field of educational research.

Coordinating Office “Cause-related Individual Diagnostics and Intervention in Defined School-related Developmental Disorders“

CORE – Critical Thinking in Online Learning Environments in Higher Education

The project investigates the critical use of digital media and information by students. Text and process data are collected using a digital assessment platform and evaluated using machine learning analyses in order to identify correlations between test scores, solution processes and Internet resources used.

Cultural Differences in Numerical Magnitude Processing

This DIPF 2015 project focused on investigating in how far cultural differences as found in international comparisons of student achievement in mathematics are also evident in basic numerical skills.

DATAFIED – DATA For and In Education: The Construction of Schooling in a Datafied Society

The project consortium focusses on data processes in school from four different perspectives: school inspectorate, school management, learning software and teaching.

DELTA – Towards Digital Education with modern Learning Technologies and Assessment approaches

Intensive development of the digital education at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the state of Hesse.

DERET – German Spelling Test for the Fifth and Sixth School Year

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of errors in spelling, to allow different levels of analyses for a heterogeneous population of users

DeSign – Dynamics of Students’ Self-Regulation and Interrelations with Experienced Teaching Quality

Self-regulation refers to the ability of an individual to control his or her thoughts, feelings, and actions in such a way that they support the pursuit of long-term goals. Characteristics of situations influence this ability and can therefore support or impede self-regulation. The project DeSign investigated the interaction between the quality of teaching perceived during a lesson and the change in self-regulation within students.

Development of a Competence Model for Geographical Systems Competence

The national educational standards for the subject of geography for general school leaving qualifications describe the systems concept as a central basic concept. The project targets an empirical foundation of a normative-educational theoretical structure and level model for systems competence in teaching geography for a general school leaving qualification. Specially designed test tasks that are based on this model shall be deployed to enable criterion-oriented, school-related, individual diagnostics.

Development of an achievement test for the assessment of student competencies in Economics - Labour - Technics - Vocational Orientation (WATB)

Increasingly, teaching and learning basic skills in the area of economics and technology as well as vocational orientation have entered secondary school curriculum frameworks. In the context of the structural reform of Berlin‘s secondary school system, the teaching subject of “Wirtschaft-Arbeit-Technik“ (Economics, Labour, Technics; WAT) was introduced at the newly established integrated secondary schools, as a key subject of dual learning. The new teaching subject, WAT substitutes the former subject of “Arbeitslehre“, it is a compulsory subject for all students at integrated secondary schools.

Development of Memory Strategies in Children and Youths

The project aimed at identifying the developmental changes and differences in the development of memory strategies. Five dimensions of change were focussed on.

DiaS-K – Diagnostics of Self-Regulation in Preschool

In the project DiaS-K, preschool teachers and doctors who carry out school entry examinations were interviewed in order to find out what instruments for diagnosing self-regulation in preschool age must look like so that they are usable for practitioners.

DiFA – Digital Formative Assessment – Unfolding its full potential by combining psychometrics with learning analytics

The central aim is to create an online course for student teachers on the subject of digital education. From digital trace data, indicators of learning behavior will be developed and validated. These indicators will be used for learning-supporting feedback and their effectiveness will be tested.

Digi-EBF – Meta project “Digitizing in education“

The co-operative meta project provides a general scientific and societal framework for around 50 projects from the BMBF funding line for digitizing in education (principles and conditions of success), i.e. ”Digitalisierung im Bildungsbereich – Grundsatzfragen und Gelingensbedingungen“. Moreover, developments are scientifically processed in the priority research area, gaps in research are identified, and networking of researchers is promoted as well as exchange with educational practitioners. At DIPF, the project activities are aimed at offering adequate counselling and thus contributing to quality assurance of research data and research information, and systematically tapping into questions concerning “digitizing in education”.

Digi-EBF II – Meta-Project "Digital Education II"
