Abstract (english):
Qualitative science methods have largely been omitted from discussions of open science. Platforms focused on qualitative science that support open science data and method sharing are rare. Sharing and exchanging coding schemas has great potential for supporting traceability in qualitative research as well as for facilitating the reuse of coding schemas. In this study, we present and evaluate QualiCO, an ontology to describe qualitative coding schemas. Twenty qualitative researchers used QualiCO to complete two coding tasks. In our findings, we present task performance and interview data that focus participants' attention on the ontology. Participants used QualiCO to complete the coding tasks, decreasing time on task, while improving accuracy, signifying that QualiCO enabled the reuse of qualitative coding schemas. Our discussion elaborates some issues that participants had and highlights how conceptual and prior practice frames their interpretation of how QualiCO can be used. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
This study analyses the quality of 28 OGPs, 18 on the city level, 7 on the state level, and 3 at the national level. The focus of this study is on identifying and analyzing the gap in open educational data. While the portals contain 94% 'open' datasets, most of the portals do not provide comprehensive usage metrics like the data download, evidence of usage in research or applications. Finally, the paper highlights the main shortcomings of the existing open data portals regarding the quality of datasets and the lack of findability and granularity. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
In a current research project we implemented an approach for delivering computer assisted adaptive testing as an additional form of formative assessment for a lecture. We primarily used these tests as a formative assessment during a "fundamentals of computer programming" course. The tests also included an individual feedback to further guide the students. To evaluate and improve the formative assessments, we performed a usability study, which was focused on the user satisfaction while taking a test and reading the feedback. The study used the user experience questionnaire. The results indicate that an adaptive assessment can provide more support, but also shows shortcomings of the current implementation. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract (english):
The analysis of multimodal data in learning is a growing field of research, whic has led to the development of different analytics solutions. However, there is no standardized approach to handle multimodal data. In this paper, we describe and outline a solution for five recurrent challenges in the analysis of multimodal data: the data collection, storing, annotation, processing and exploitation. For each of these challenges, we envision possible solutions. The prototypes for some of the proposed solutions will be discussed during the Multimodal Challenge of the Fourth Learning Analytics & Knowledge Hackathon, a two-day hands-on workshop that will open the prototypes for trials, validation and feedback. Abstract:
In this PhD thesis, a visual interface for text analysis and text mining in the digital humanities (DH) will be developed. Text analysis is a crucial task in the DH, but advanced text mining technologies like topic modeling or clustering are difficult to use for most researchers. My work bridges this gap using visualizations. To ensure an adequate usability of visualizations for epistemological practices, the visualizations will be realized with researchers in an agile and participatory approach. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
Web analytics is a common approach to monitoring and analyzing user behavior on websites. We investigated three different research aspects which can be addressed using web analytics data. Our main concern was the data quality, followed by general findings on user behavior as well as potential usability issues. We chose an iterative, qualitative approach in order to address all three aspects. Further, we annotated usage data in detail to achieve a deeper understanding of possible user intentions. As a result, we conclude that the use of web analytics data, captured with a modern and widely used tool, bears some limitations for usability analysis, as semantic problems occur that are often overlooked. Further pre-processing is needed to reconstruct the real clickstream when an analysis of the navigation and user behavior is planned. Some hints at usability issues could be found by detecting movement patterns between certain page types. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:
Objective: To develop and evaluate a computer adaptive test for the assessment of anxiety in cardiovascular rehabilitation patients (ACAT-cardio) that tailors an optimal test for each patient and enables precise and time-effective measurement. Design: Simulation study, validation study (against the anxiety subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the physical component summary scale of the 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey), and longitudinal study (beginning and end of rehabilitation). Setting: Cardiac rehabilitation centers. Participants: Cardiovascular rehabilitation patients: simulation study sample (n=106; mean age, 57.8y; 25.5% women) and validation and longitudinal study sample (n=138; mean age, 58.6 and 57.9y, respectively; 16.7% and 12.1% women, respectively). Interventions: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey, and ACAT-cardio. Results: The mean number of items was 9.2 with an average processing time of 1:13 minutes when an SE ≤.50 was used as a stopping rule; with an SE ≤.32, there were 28 items and a processing time of 3:47 minutes. Validity could be confirmed via correlations between .68 and .81 concerning convergent validity (ACAT-cardio vs Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale anxiety subscale) and correlations between −.47 and −.30 concerning discriminant validity (ACAT-cardio vs 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey physical component summary scale). Sensitivity to change was moderate to high with standardized response means between .45 and .82. Conclusions: The ACAT-cardio shows good psychometric properties and provides the opportunity for an innovative and time-effective assessment of anxiety in cardiovascular rehabilitation. A more flexible stopping rule might further improve the ACAT-cardio. Additionally, testing in other cardiovascular populations would increase generalizability.

Abstract (english):
International comparative studies like the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) pose special challenges to the localisation of the test content. To allow for comparison between countries, the assessments have to be comparable with respect to measurement properties. Therefore, internationalisation and localisation are crucial steps to guarantee test equivalence across countries. The localisation of test items is different from the localisation of web-based contents or software as the test content has to be authentic within a country while the test's measurement properties have to be comparable across countries. Using the PIAAC study (Programme for the Assessment of Adult Competencies) as an example, this paper describes all stages of the localisation process for an international large-scale assessment. The process ranges from the development of source items to translation, adaptation of layout issues and meta-data adaptations. The paper concludes with a discussion of lessons learned and open questions.

Abstract:
Abstract (english):
The article begins with an outline of research on cooperation among teachers that is followed by reasoning about which web-based services could support such cooperation and whether these services are already in use by teachers. In the main part the design of a customized social bookmarking service for teachers is explicated and the first steps of its development and implementation are shown.
