Abstract (english):
Chatbots are a promising technology with the potential to enhance workplaces and everyday life. In terms of scalability and accessibility, they also offer unique possibilities as communication and information tools for digital learning. In this paper, we present a systematic literature review investigating the areas of education where chatbots have already been applied, explore the pedagogical roles of chatbots, the use of chatbots for mentoring purposes, and their potential to personalize education. We conducted a preliminary analysis of 2678 publications to perform this literature review, which allowed us to identify 74 relevant publications for chatbots' application in education. Through this, we address five research questions that, together, allow us to explore the current state-of-the-art of this educational technology. We conclude our systematic review by pointing to three main research challenges: 1. Aligning chatbot evaluations with implementation objectives, 2. Exploring the potential of chatbots for mentoring students, and 3. Exploring and leveraging adaptation capabilities of chatbots. For all three challenges, we discuss opportunities for future research.

Abstract (english):
Introduction. Systematic reviews are a method to synthesise research results for evidence-based decision-making on a specific question. Processes of information seeking and behaviour play a crucial role and might intensively influence the outcomes of a review. This paper proposes an approach to understand the relevance assessment and decision-making of researchers that conduct systematic reviews. Method. A systematic review was conducted to build up a database for text-based qualitative analyses of researchers' decision-making in review processes. Analysis. The analysis focuses on the selection process of retrieved articles and introduces the method to investigate relevance assessment processes of researchers. Results. There are different methods to conduct reviews in research, and relevance assessment of documents within those processes is neither one-directional nor standardised. Research on information behaviour of researchers involved in those reviews has not looked at relevance assessment steps and their influence in a review's outcomes. Conclusions. A reason for the varieties and inconsistencies of review types might be that information seeking and relevance assessment are much more complex and researchers might not be able to draw upon their concrete decisions. This paper proposes a research study to investigate researcher behaviour while synthesising research results for evidence-based decision-making.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract (english):
This study analyses the quality of 28 OGPs, 18 on the city level, 7 on the state level, and 3 at the national level. The focus of this study is on identifying and analyzing the gap in open educational data. While the portals contain 94% 'open' datasets, most of the portals do not provide comprehensive usage metrics like the data download, evidence of usage in research or applications. Finally, the paper highlights the main shortcomings of the existing open data portals regarding the quality of datasets and the lack of findability and granularity. (DIPF/Orig.)

Abstract:

Abstract:
Readership is a necessary part of scientific communication and is important both in terms of internal science communication and for transfer performance into politics and society. Based on findings from a scientometric analysis, we have shown that the correlations between download numbers and citation numbers in educational research are strongly dependent on the journal. These correlations could not be shown across all journals, but we have seen that there are journals where correlations exist and that there are journals where no correlations exist. In order to further investigate the question of why the correlations only occur in relation to some educational science journals, we have put forward the idea that the differences are related to different readerships. In fact, the readership of educational journals is very diverse. It ranges from the scientific community to educational practitioners and the general public. We see this finding as characteristic of a SSH discipline. Furthermore, we were able to show that there are correlations between the classification of the educational journals into the three target group clusters and the corresponding correlation coefficients of the journals. If the journals exclusively address the scientific community, the correlations between download numbers and citation numbers are higher. The journals in the educational practice and public sphere clusters, on the other hand, do not give a clear indication of a weaker correlation. No patterns could be identified in this respect. Abstract:
The open science movement calls for transparent and retraceable research processes. While infrastructures to support these practices in qualitative research are lacking, the design needs to consider different approaches and workflows. The paper bases on the definition of ontologies as shared conceptualizations of knowledge (Borst, 1999). The authors argue that participatory design is a good way to create these shared conceptualizations by giving domain experts and future users a voice in the design process via interviews, workshops and observations.
