Abstract (english): The purpose of this study was to adapt the Leadership Scale for Sports (LSS; Chelladurai & Saleh, 1980) to physical education (PE) classes, for measuring teacher behavior by taking consideration of the perspectives of students and teachers. We moreover examined the influence of teacher behavior and the perceived teacher-student congruence on the satisfaction of students. Two cross-sectional studies, an online survey with PE teachers and a school study where students responded to a questionnaire assessing students' perception and the preferred teacher behavior and teachers fill in a self-description form regarding their own behavior. Participants for study 1 were 527 PE teachers (254 females and 273 males), aged 21-64 years (M= 42.11; SD = 11.21). Participants in study 2 were 1452 students (625 females, 798 males and 29 unstated), aged 9-17 years (M = 13.31; SD = 1.49) and 18 PE teachers (8 females and 10 males), age 28-60 years (M= 49.87; SD = 14.99). Confirmatory factor analysis and the reliability coefficients supported the view that the LSS is adequate for usage in PE. Hierarchical regression analyses demonstrated that teacher behavior influences the satisfaction of students. Moreover, perceived teacher-student congruence had a positive effect on students' satisfaction. The findings support the assumption that the LSS is a suitable instrument for an application in PE. Teachers should be concerned with their students' perception of their preferred teaching behavior in order to adapt to their needs and to foster their satisfaction with, and interest in, PE.

Abstract: Der Beitrag beschreibt mit Blick auf die Verfügbarkeit von Online-Bildungsmedien das Zusammenspiel von Content-, Verweis- und Schulplattformen am Beispiel des Social Bookmarking-Dienstes Edutags.

Abstract: With the increasing amount of user generated reference texts in the web, automatic quality assessment has become a key challenge. However, only a small amount of annotated data is available for training quality assessment systems. Wikipedia contains a large amount of texts annotated with cleanup templates which identify quality flaws. We show that the distribution of these labels is topically biased, since they cannot be applied freely to any arbitrary article. We argue that it is necessary to consider the topical restrictions of each label in order to avoid a sampling bias that results in a skewed classifier and overly optimistic evaluation results. We factor out the topic bias by extracting reliable training instances from the revision history which have a topic distribution similar to the labeled articles. This approach better reflects the situation a classifier would face in a real-life application.

Abstract: This paper describes UKP's participation in the cross-lingual link discovery task at NTCIR-10 (CrossLink2). The task addressed in our work is to find valid anchor texts from a Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) Wikipedia page and retrieve the corresponding target Wiki pages in the English language. The CrossLink framework was developed based on our previous CrossLink system that works on the opposite directions of the language pairs, i.e. discovered anchor texts from English Wikipedia pages and their corresponding targets in CJK languages. The framework consists of anchor selection, anchor ranking, anchor translation, and target discovery sub-modules. Each sub-module in the framework has been shown to work well both in monolingual settings and English to CJK language pairs. We seek to find out whether the approach that worked very well for English to CJK would still work for CJK to English. We use the same experimental settings that were used in our previous participation, and our experimental runs show that the CJK-to- English CrossLink task is a much harder task when using the same resources as the English-to-CJK one.

Abstract (english): While detecting simple language errors (e.g. misspellings, number agreement, etc.) is nowadays standard functionality in all but the simplest text-editors, other more complicated language errors might go unnoticed. A difficult case are errors that come in the disguise of a valid word that fits syntactically into the sentence. We use the Wikipedia revision history to extract a dataset with such errors in their context. We show that the new dataset provides a more realistic picture of the performance of contextual fitness measures. The achieved error detection quality is generally sufficient for competent language users who are willing to accept a certain level of false alarms, but might be problematic for non-native writers who accept all suggestions made by the systems. We make the full experimental framework publicly available which will allow other scientists to reproduce our experiments and to conduct follow-up experiments.

Abstract: In this paper, we present a study of the collaborative writing process in Wikipedia. Our work is
based on a corpus of 1,995 edits obtained from 891 article revisions in the English Wikipedia.
We propose a 21-category classification scheme for edits based on Faigley and Witte's (1981)
model. Example edit categories include spelling error corrections and vandalism. In a manual
multi-label annotation study with 3 annotators, we obtain an inter-annotator agreement of
= 0.67. We further analyze the distribution of edit categories for distinct stages in the revision
history of 10 featured and 10 non-featured articles. Our results show that the information
content in featured articles tends to become more stable after their promotion. On the opposite,
this is not true for non-featured articles. We make the resulting corpus and the annotation
guidelines freely available.1
