Abstract:
Abstract:
(DIPF/Autor)
Abstract (english):
The introductory article presents the concept of the symposium in the context of the cultural psychological and action theoretical work of Eckensberger as well as the resulting consequences for a scientific debate on democracy anddemocratic competency. Democracy implies more than a way of government, it is simultaneously also a lifestyle and worldview that forms an interpretational horizon in which culture, action and democracy are inextricably entwined. Abstract (english):
Paose (Petri net-based Agent-Oriented Software Engineering) combines the paradigm of AOSE (Agent-Oriented Software Engineering), with the expressive power of Petri nets - reference netsto be more precise. While AOSE is a powerful approach when itcomes to designing and developing distributed (agent) applications, itdoes not address the problems specific to debugging, monitoring, andtesting of these applications, i.e. no global state of the system and verydynamic operating conditions. To tackle these problems, two tools havebeen developed in the context of Paose, which are presented in thiswork.Firstly, this paper will give a short overview over the interrelated set oftools, which exists already and supports Petri net- based AOSE. The toolsare centered around the Petri net-based multi- agent system developmentand runtime environment Renew/Mulan/Capa. Secondly, Mulan-Viewer and Mulan-Sniffer will be presented in moredetail - two tools to address the issues encountered during debugging, monitoring, and testing agent applications. Both tools are first class members of the aforementioned family. The first tool, Mulan-Viewer, deals with the introspection of agents and agent behaviors, while it alsooffers rudimentary features for controlling the agent-system. The Mulan-Sniffer as the second tool places emphasis on tracing, visualizing, and analyzing communication between all parts of the multi-agent applicationand offers interfaces for more advanced methods of analysis, such as process mining. Both Mulan-Viewer and Mulan-Sniffer are realizedas Renew plugins that can also be extended by other plugins. (Autor)

Abstract (english):
We define Concurrent Turing Machines (CTMs) as Turing machines with Petri nets as finite control. This leads to machines with arbitrary many tape heads, thus subsuming any class of (constant) k-head Turing machines. Space, time, and head complexity classes are introduced and discussed for some examples. These also show the differences of various acceptance conditions that are defined for CTMs. We specify a simulation algorithm showing that CTMs are not more powerful than sequential Turing machines with respect to the class of accepted languages regardless of the acceptance condition. A plug-in for the Renew tool allows the execution of CTMs. Similar extensions are envisaged for other machine models. (DIPF/Author)

Abstract (english):
Refinement of Petri nets is well suited for the hierarchical design of system models. It is used to represent a model at different levels of abstraction. Usually, refinement is a static concept. For some inherent dynamic domains as for example the modeling of web services, we need a more flexible form of refinement, e.g. to bind web services at run-time. Run-time binding allows fora flexible orchestration of services. The requirement of dynamic refinement at run-time is quite strong. Since we would like to redefine the system structure by itself, transition refinement cannot be implemented by a model transformation. Instead, an approach is needed which allows for dynamic net structures that can evolve as an effect of transitions firing. In previous work we introduced nets-within-nets as a formalism for the dynamic refinement of tokens. Here we consider an extension of nets-within- nets that uses special net tokens describing the refinement structure of transitions. Using this formalism it is possible to update refinements, introduce alternative refinements, etc. We present some formal properties of the extended formalism and introduce an example implementation for the tool Renew. Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract (english):
The paper represents further efforts to apply the "types of everyday morality", developed over the last ten years, to another context: farming. The four types were derived partly from empirical studies, partly from theoretical and meta-theoretical arguments. They represent a heteronomous or autonomous way of thinking on two levels of understanding the social sphere (interpersonal and transpersonal). In detail they refer not only to moral orientations, butalso to emotions, understanding of facts, risk taking, concepts of responsibility, control beliefs, solidarity with groups and identity concepts. So their conceptualization is rich, going beyond pure cognitive/ structural arguments. Farming occurs in a complex field of conflicts between economic, ecological and social domains. Two basic strategies of agricultural risk management exist: organic and conventional orientations in farming. The goal of the chapter is a detailed analysis of the morals involved in these farming styles. At first glance they seem to differ morally: often organically working farmers are considered as being more "moral" in a quite general sense (in their treatment of animals, nature and also costumers). To analyse this stereotype more closely ten conventionally and ten organically oriented farmers (self-description), five organically and five conventionally oriented experts (academic training in the field) and five organically and five conventionally oriented decision makers (officials, politicians, entrepreneurs) in the field were interviewed in depth. Basically the results show a complex picture of the two groups, which falsify a simple attribution of the groups to a difference in "moral maturity".(DIPF/Autor)
