The Center for Research on Educational Governance focuses on the political and administrative structure of the educational system. Descriptive and analytical research questions are addressed in interdisciplinary co-operation, drawing on the Center’s legal, sociological, economical and pedagogical expertise. Furthermore, the Center for Research on Educational Governance scientifically evaluates reforms and interventions in education to inform political decision-making. Hence, the two major research orientations of the Center for Research on Educational Governance can be described as analytical-evaluative, on the one hand, and process-oriented constructive, on the other. While the analytical-evaluative research strand addresses the fundamental aspects of interaction between society and the educational system, the process-oriented constructive strand focuses on legal and administrative processes. Theoretical approaches can initiate fundamental research and can also be reference points for research projects derived from practice. The Center places special emphasis on an interdisciplinary and international research perspective.
